Membership
The Sheridan Beach Community Club Associate Membership Policy
allows the Club to maintain affordable membership fees for deeded
members and provides the opportunity for deeded members to sponsor
their friends to join the Club as associate members and become
involved in the Sheridan community. The Beach Club is a private
facility owned by the deeded members. The Beach Club, through its
Board of Trustees, retains the authority to approve associate
membership, and to modify this policy in the interest of the deeded
members.

Associate Membership
Eligibility:
|
| |
1. |
Associate member applicants must reside
within the associate member boundaries. The
boundaries apply to both sides of the
street. Applicants living within 1 mi. of
the associate boundary may apply, but
associates within the specified boundary
have priority in their application process.
|
| |
2. |
The Board may adjust the associate
membership boundary, as it deems
appropriate. While it is the intent of the
Board to minimize changes in the boundary
overtime, it may make changes to promote a
balance between the Club’s interest in
sufficient pool of applicants and a
reasonable wait time for associate member
applicants. |
| |
3. |
Associate member’s order on the
Associate Member waiting list will be
determined by the date the Membership
Committee Chair receives the completed
associate membership application and two
completed sponsor reference forms. Associate
members application must be received and
approved by the Board before being added to
the waiting list. |
| |
4. |
Eligible associate member applicants
must have two deeded members sponsor them
for membership. |
| |
5. |
Applicants that declined an offer of
membership move to the bottom of the
applicant list. |
| |
6. |
Applicants on the waiting list, who
solely as a result of a boundary change, end
up residing outside of the revised boundary,
maintain their eligibility for membership
and their position on the waiting list. |
| |
7. |
Associate members who move outside the
associate member boundary must request their
continued associate membership in writing to
the Board and be approved by the Board for
continued associate membership. |
| |
8. |
Associate members who end up outside of
the associate boundary as a result of a
boundary change will be able to retain their
associate membership. |
| |
9. |
Deeded members who moved into the
associate member boundary area can
immediately become associate members with
the approval of the Board. |
|
|
Procedures:
|
| |
1. |
The Membership Committee Chair sends the
application form to the interested associate
member applicant who lives within the
designated associate membership boundary.
|
| |
2. |
The applicant completes the form, has
two deeded members complete the sponsor form
and send all three forms to the Membership
Chair. |
| |
3. |
The Membership Chair posts the name of
the associate membership applicant and
his/her spouse in a The Shouter for comment.
|
| |
4. |
The Membership Chair takes the applicant
and sponsor forms to the board meeting. The
Board reviews the application and votes on
whether to approve the applicant for
membership. Simple majority is required for
Associate Membership approval. If approved,
the applicant will be added to the waiting
list. |
| |
5. |
The Membership Chair contacts the
applicant and reports the status of his/her
application. |
